Receiver in the Canal Hearing Aids

Receiver in the Canal (RIC) style BTEs are similar to the slim tube style, except the RIC style actually places the receiver or amplifier into the ear canal.

Advantages

  • Not affected by the cerumen.
  • Preferred style for directional microphone systems.
  • Avoids the occlusion effect.
  • Long battery life.

Disadvantages

  • Difficult for some to put on.
  • Exposed to heat and cerumen which requires more maintenance than other options.
