Colon Cancer Awareness Month is observed every March to raise awareness of colon and rectal cancers and to honor patients affected by colorectal cancer.
Getting screening colonoscopies starting at age 45 reduces the risk of colon cancer by 89%. The good news is most insurance carriers will fully cover the cost for a screening colonoscopy, which is still the gold standard for colon cancer detection and prevention. Dress in Blue Day is held on the first Friday of the month to place the spotlight on Colon Cancer Awareness. The Oregon Clinic Gastroenterology has proudly celebrated Dress in Blue Day for many years. Our GI clinic teams hold a fun slogan contest to come up with a new slogan for that year’s T-shirt, with the winning slogan printed on over 300 T-shirts for our team members!
On March 7, 2025, our GI Clinics joined allies in the GI community across the country by wearing our blue T-shirt with this year’s winning staff-submitted slogan: Ease Your Mind, Screen Your Behind!
