“The interactions I have on a personal level with patients and their families is the most rewarding part of my work. I think if you treat people the way that you would want your family to be treated there’s usually a good outcome.”

Dr. Mueller was born in Hazard, Kentucky to missionary parents and spent much of his childhood in Liberia. He moved back to the United States as a teenager to attend high school and college. After earning a BS in Public Administration from California Baptist College, Dr. Mueller went on to receive his medical education at University of California at Irvine, joining the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduating in 1987. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), residing in Portland from 1987 until 1993. While at OHSU, Dr. Mueller served as Clinical Fellow for the American Cancer Society’s Department of Surgical Oncology from 1990-1991.
