Dr. Joo chose to become a gastroenterologist because it provides cerebral stimulation and allows him to work with his hands. As a gastroenterologist, he has learned that every patient encounter is unique. He does not use a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Dr. Joo believes that listening to patients is one of the most valuable skills in medicine.
Collaborative and multidisciplinary care is important in this day of modern medicine because it allows me to learn and grow from every healthcare encounter. Dr. Joo enjoys the relationships that are built over the years with his patients.
Outside of work, Dr. Joo likes to play golf, basketball, snowboard, surf, play guitar, and travel. He also helps out at his church and spends as much time as possible with his wife and three daughters before they leave for college. He also tries to find time to go for a weekly run with his English Cream Retriever.
