Dr. McGinnis’ introduction to Radiation Oncology occurred when her father underwent radiation treatment for Stage IV rectal cancer, forging a meaningful bond with his radiation oncologist. As her training progressed, she discovered that Radiation Oncology harmonizes her professional passions; encompassing innovative technologies and therapeutics, expert knowledge in anatomy and oncological approaches, dedication to health equity, and rewarding connections with patients.

In addition to standard 3D or VMAT techniques, Dr. McGinnis has been trained on the use of SBRT, MR LINAC, Gamma Knife, proton therapy, and HDR brachytherapy. She has training in using high-dose rate brachytherapy for gynecologic, genitourinary, skin, and breast malignancies.

Dr. McGinnis finds the opportunity to connect and care for patients during a challenging time in their lives is incredibly meaningful. She enjoys sharing her expertise in cancer medicine and when patients teach her about their experiences. She also finds that working in a multi-disciplinary team is an enjoyable and important aspect of providing high quality oncology care.

Growing up in Portland, Dr. McGinnis has always loved the beautiful surroundings and easy access to the rivers, mountains, and beaches nearby. As an adult, she has come to love riding her bicycle around the city and getting to try all of the amazing vegetarian food options. Outside of work, Dr. McGinnis enjoys cycling, backpacking, CrossFit, reading, and board games.
