Dr. Johnny Ting Zheng specialized in gastroenterology because it allows him to help his patients with both medications and endoscopic therapies. He believes that the needs of the patient come first, and strives to empower his patients through a holistic care approach that emphasizes education on diseases of the GI tract and lifestyle changes.
Dr. Zheng completed advanced training in gastroenterology alongside experts at the prestigious Mayo Clinic. In addition to general gastroenterology, he has a special interest in motility disorders of the GI tract such as achalasia, gastroparesis, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Dr. Zheng also performs endoscopic treatment for patients with Barrett’s esophagus, using ablation, cryotherapy, or endoscopic resection.
Dr. Zheng finds it incredibly rewarding to help his patients improve with treatment. He loves when patients begin eating normally and regaining weight after a correct diagnosis and treatment for their severe swallowing issues, or helping a patient struggling with Barrett’s esophagus to feel better and prevent cancer in the esophagus with medications and endoscopy.
Outside of work, Dr. Zheng spends his time with family, taking his three young children to the many outdoor and indoor activities Portland has to offer. He also enjoys pursuing his technology hobby by building his own gaming computer, home theater, personal media streaming solution, and smart home ecosystem.
Dr. Zheng speaks fluent Mandarin.
